ACHILLE MAUZAN. 1883-1952.
"Un affichiste francais inconnu en France."
Vendre, fevrier 1933.

I have a scruffy little book on MAUZAN which I thought I had lost.
Unfortunately there is very little in colour.

JOAQUIM MIR, 1873-1940.
One from the master colourist, Catalan painter JOAQUIM MIR.
My aplologies to the marvellous MIR. This is a postcard from the Museu d'art Modern, Barcelona. It can only hint at the soulful colours of a very great painter.
I will post more by MIR soon.
DAVID ROBERTS. (1796-1864)
THE CHAPTERHOUSE, BURGOS CATHEDRAL. (1836)
Two interesting versions of the same piece by a master draughtsman of the 19th. Century.
Roberts also designed sets for the London theatres. Sadly almost none of this work survives.
He was a remarkable draughtsman but no great colourist. His Egyptian prints remain popular today and may have set the rigid rule that all imagery on Ancient Egypt should be 'golden'.
