DAVID ROBERTS. (1796-1864)
THE CHAPTERHOUSE, BURGOS CATHEDRAL. (1836)
Two interesting versions of the same piece by a master draughtsman of the 19th. Century.
Roberts also designed sets for the London theatres. Sadly almost none of this work survives.
He was a remarkable draughtsman but no great colourist. His Egyptian prints remain popular today and may have set the rigid rule that all imagery on Ancient Egypt should be 'golden'.
